Nonprofit Website Redesign: How We Refreshed the Catman2 Website

At Kane Design, we love working with organizations that make a real difference in their communities. Recently we had the opportunity to help a special local nonprofit refresh their website and better share their mission with the public.

As a big cat lover, I was especially excited to work on this project. My first meeting with the Catman2 team involved a cat sitting happily on my lap while we talked about the website, followed by a tour of their amazing sanctuary facility. It was the perfect introduction to an organization built entirely around compassion for animals.

Catman2 is led by Kaleb Lynch and powered by volunteers committed to improving the lives of cats across Western North Carolina. Located in Cullowhee near Sylva, North Carolina, the organization provides a cage-free sanctuary where rescued cats can live safely while waiting to find loving forever homes.

The sanctuary focuses on both adoption and community programs that support animal welfare throughout the region. In addition to helping cats find homes, Catman2 supports the community through spay and neuter programs, Trap Neuter Return (TNR) initiatives and education that helps reduce pet overpopulation.

The Goal: A Clearer, More Vibrant Website

Like many nonprofit organizations, the Catman2 website had grown over time. While it contained valuable information, Kaleb wanted a refreshed design that would better communicate their mission and make it easier for visitors to find important information.

The goal was to create a website that would help visitors quickly:

  • Learn about the sanctuary
  • See cats available for adoption
  • Support the organization through donations
  • Discover events and volunteer opportunities

By simplifying the structure and improving the design, the new website helps visitors connect with Catman2’s mission and understand how they can get involved.

Before and After: A Cleaner Design

The updated website introduces a brighter, more welcoming look that reflects the warmth of the sanctuary itself.

Key improvements include:

  • A cleaner layout that highlights adoptable cats
  • Stronger calls to action for Adopt, Donate and Volunteer
  • Improved navigation so visitors can easily find information
  • Updated photography that brings the cats and sanctuary to life
  • Highlighting sponsors and partners to give recognition to the organizations that help support Catman2’s mission

The refreshed design makes it easier for visitors to explore the site and learn about the important work Catman2 does in the community.

Highlighting Events and Community Programs

One important part of the redesign was making sure visitors could easily see the many programs Catman2 offers.

The updated website highlights:

  • Adoption opportunities
  • Volunteer programs
  • Low cost spay and neuter initiatives
  • Trap Neuter Return (TNR) programs
  • Community events and educational programs

These improvements help connect more people with the organization and make it easier for supporters to stay involved.

Making Donations Easier

Nonprofits rely on the generosity of their communities to continue their work. The refreshed website places a stronger emphasis on ways visitors can support Catman2 and its mission.

Visitors can now easily:

  • Make a donation
  • Sponsor a cat
  • Volunteer their time
  • Learn about upcoming events
  • Share Catman2’s mission with friends and family

Clear calls to action and improved layout help guide visitors toward supporting the organization.

Supporting Local Nonprofits

Working with Catman2 was especially meaningful because they are such an important part of the Western North Carolina community.

The sanctuary provides a safe, enriched environment where rescued cats can heal, socialize and eventually find their forever homes. In addition to adoption, Catman2 also supports the community through spay and neuter programs, Trap Neuter Return initiatives and education that helps reduce pet overpopulation.

Helping organizations like this share their story online is exactly the kind of work we love to do.
